In short
The lessons are ours. The computer voice, fonts and software build on open work by others, credited here with thanks.
1. The course
GoHausa’s lessons are original work, built on the GOMA Hausa course: its lessons, sentences, translations, exercises and stories. GOMA © GoHausa’s owner. All rights reserved. You may use them in the app for your own learning, as set out in our Terms of Service.
The GoHausa name, mascot and designs are ours too.
2. The computer voice
Lesson audio without a native recording is spoken by a computer voice, labelled “computer voice” in the app.
- GoHausa voice: our own text-to-speech model, made by fine-tuning VITS Open Bible — Hausa on the Hausa text-to-speech part (hau_tts) of the WAXAL speech dataset. As an adaptation of both, the model is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. licence
- VITS Open Bible — Hausa, by multilingual-tts, trained on the Open Bible Hausa recordings. CC BY-SA 4.0. model Open Bible licence
