GoHausa sets only the cookies it needs to sign you in safely. They are set by our server (api.gohausa.com), can’t be read by scripts on the page, and are sent only over secure connections.

  Purpose

  Keeps you signed in. It holds a random sign-in key that changes each time it’s used.

  Purpose

  Only when you continue with Google: protects that sign-in from being forged or hijacked, and remembers that you confirmed your age and agreed to our terms on the sign-up page.

Cloudflare, which delivers and protects our site, may set its own strictly necessary security cookies to tell people from automated attacks. When you pay, Flutterwave’s checkout page sets its own cookies under its own policy.

The app also keeps a few things in your browser’s storage, so it works the way you left it. They never leave your device.

• goma:tap-sound

  Purpose

  Whether tapping a Hausa word plays its sound

• goma:show-tones

  Purpose

  Whether tone marks are shown on Hausa words

• goma:session:<your account id>:…

  Purpose

  Lets you pick up an unfinished lesson or practice round where you stopped. Deleted when you sign out.

• gohausa-audio-v1 and gohausa-audio-v1:index

  Purpose

  Keeps lesson audio you’ve played, so it doesn’t download again (saves your data). Size-limited, and cleared when you sign out.

Your short-lived access key is kept only in the page’s memory, never in storage, and is gone when you close the tab.

We use no analytics, advertising or social-media cookies, pixels or trackers, and nobody else tracks you through GoHausa. Because everything above is strictly necessary, we don’t need to ask for consent, and there’s no cookie banner. If that ever changes, we’ll ask you first and update this page.

You can delete cookies and site data in your browser’s settings at any time. If you remove goma_rt you’ll be signed out; removing the storage items only resets those preferences and the audio cache. Questions: contact@gohausa.com. More about your data in our Privacy Policy.
